Our Team

A team who values connection

At Safe Waters Community Care Inc. we see and value our team as a whole, from our guests, volunteers, staff and board of directors, each overlapping and complimenting each other, one cannot exist without the other.

Meet The Team

Sarah leads and supports a team of Shelter Coordinators, Support Staff and Volunteers, however believes very much so in a bottom up approach, meaning we are very much led by our Guests.

Sarah enjoys seeing people connect at all levels and is passionate about giving vulnerable people a voice through advocacy and helping them to see their own true potential through connecting with others, believing in themselves and reducing barriers.

Lillian Nuggent

Support Worker

Lillian has over 35 years combined experience in children's, community services and education. Lillian is passionate about supporting people to be the best version of themselves, to learn to trust themselves and be responsible for their own wellbeing. Lillian would love to help people reconnect and feel a sense of belonging and importance within their community.

One of our Shelter Coordinators, Tanya, discoverd her passion for helping people after working in the community for 10 years and while completing her studies her passion grew and she knew this was the industry for her.

Becoming a part of the team at Safe Waters has given Tanya the ability to help make a difference in peoples lives and she is commited to help them get to where they want to be. Tanya coordinates the shelter and our programs, our guests, volunteers and support workers alongside our other Shelter Coordinator in a job-share position.

Dan Egan

Support Worker

After working in community housing Dan began to recognise flaws in the system he was working within, as well as barriers that people face who may have some complexities in their personal lives. Witnessing people being declined assistance, Dan could see if not for Safe Waters, they would be on the street and made the decision to leave his role to join Safe Waters.

Dan is passionate about breaking down barriers and restoring/giving hope to our guests by ensuring they receive the assistance they are in need of. Dan feels grateful to be a part of a team that was built by the community for the community.

Jody beleives the most basic need of a safe and nurturing home is paramount to all aspects of wellbeing, after working in the community services sector in her hometown, Ulladulla, for over 20 years.

Jody feels deep gratitude for having a safe home and feels strongly that everyone has a right to feel safe and believes that’s what Safe Waters provides.

Jody holds qualifications in Community Services and loves the diversity and resilience of our guests stating "I learn so much from them". Jody shares the Shelter Coordinator role with Tanya coordinating our many programs, guests, volunteers and support workers.
