Get Involved

Would you like to become a volunteer?

Shift times and jobs:

 

5pm - 8pm shift:

Welcoming guests into the shelter - setting up beds - with our guests; cooking - serving - cleaning - offering laundry and bathroom facilities - social support (playing games, group meals and activities, having a conversation without judgement)

8pm - 8am shift:

This is a sleepover shift, you will have your own lockable room and bed. Tasks may include - having people in bed by a curfew and ensuring the shelter is locked and safe - in the morning; washing of linen - helping with breakfast if needed - cleaning with guests

 

Mentors - any day, any time:

Can't commit to any of the above but would still like to assist and love spending time / helping people? Become a mentor; this could mean having a coffee, lunch, walk with a guest to help support them get back on their feet, feel heard, help with setting goals, making and getting to appointments are just some of the things this could include with the help of our staff

Property Maintenance & Furniture Removal:

All types of property maintenance including; lawn mowing, gardening, rubbish removal, furniture removal when our guests find accommodation, maintenance of our properties ie. oiling decks, fixing minor damages, painting, spring cleaning etc. Please complete this seperate registration form:

 

Pet minding:

Love animals? Have the space at home to foster an animal for a short period of time? This may be the support you can offer someone in crisis by taking in a pet for someone in crisis whilst they get back on their feet - this may only be of a night time basis (all situations assessed individually)

Induction and training is provided for all volunteers free of charge

Our shelter has security measures in place to ensure safety of all guests and volunteers
